My Phoebe has gotten into the nasty habit of overgrooming her belly. She's been to the vet on multiple occasions, and on each occasion I've been told she's a healthy cat. After several different attempts to stop the grooming, I thought I'd finally found the light at the end of the tunnel. Don't get me wrong, this pink onesie is adorable and the quality is up to par with the best of onesies, but Phoebe was not in the least bit enthused when I wrestled to put this on her. I've attached a photo for reference. You can see the pure disgust and hatred in her eyes. After throwing herself down on multiple surfaces and listening to so many unrecognizable yowls my ears began to burn, it became apparent that this onesie was not meant for Phoebe. My eleven-year old Maine Coon needed surgery to remove a small growth on his chest. (it turned out to be benign.) When I got him home from the vet, I placed the standard "collar of shame" clear cone collar on him. He completely freaked out, dashing all over the house and trying to get through places he previously could easily navigate through but now couldn't with the collar on. He hit several obstacles so hard that he actually broke pieces of the clear plastic off the collar. I was afraid he was going to break his neck. He managed to get stuck in several places and the piece de resistance happened when he went under my basement stairs on the far side of the sump system and got stuck. I had to gently pull him out by his tail as that was the only body part I could reach, and the slope of the collar coming out backwards didn't catch on the building structure. I removed the e-collar and watched him closely until this suit came from Amazon (great fast shipping). I managed to get the suit on him after some initial growling and hissing, but I was able to do so without losing any blood from claws or teeth. In less than five minutes, he completely calmed down and seemed to enjoy the suit. He slept on my lap and seemed (to me) to appreciate the lack of the e-collar very much. He wore the suit for ten days and when I took him in to have his stitches removed, the vet remarked that he had healed very well from the surgery. I HIGHLY recommend this product as an alternative to the e-collar for any cat recovering from chest or abdominal surgery. I probably put the suit on him upside down with the velcro on top, since having the velcro on the bottom allows you to check the wound (which you're supposed to do regularly during recovery) but it worked very well for us.★★★★★★★★★By Ed McD
This recovery suit is phenomenal! My cat was involved in an attack and due to the unknown origin of his severe back wound, the vet had to leave it open to heal. Of course what cat will leave a bandage alone!? Since it will take up to 6 weeks for his wound to heal it just wasn't practical to use an E-collar. Our vetA suggested using baby onesies but my cat does not have the patience or the temperament to allow me to get one on him and they aren't made for cats. Cats need to use the litter. Babies don't.This suit is easy as can be to put on and does not interfere with him using the litter. The closure runs along their back and thankfully no velcro! There are plastic snaps that are easy to open and close but stay secure and the neck is adjustable as well.
